Job description

Summary

Hutch Kids Child Care Center provides care for infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children. We are seeking experienced candidates for the position of Co-Lead Teacher in our Seattle Preschool Program classroom for the 25-26 school year. The ideal candidate will be available to start August 18, 2025.

Seattle Preschool Program (SPP) is high-quality, evidence-based preschool programming offered by the Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) in partnership with a network of preschool providers throughout the city, including both community-based providers and Seattle Public Schools. Since 2015, SPP has helped prepare more than 6,300 children for kindergarten by developing pre-academic skills and supporting social-emotional growth. SPP is funded by the voter-approved Families, Education, Preschool and Promise (FEPP) Levy and aims to eliminate opportunity gaps in kindergarten readiness and provide access to high-quality early learning for all Seattle three- and four-year-olds.

At Hutch Kids, we construct a child-centered, developmentally appropriate, emergent curriculum that encourages children's growth and development, including their self-confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, and self-discipline.

As a whole and within each classroom, we consider ourselves a community of learners. Lead teachers work as a team with a co-lead teacher and an assistant teacher to develop and implement a positive, nurturing and stimulating environment suited for the individual developmental needs of each child. Low classroom ratios allow for the development of secure, lasting relationships between children, teachers, and families. Hutch Kids is accredited by NAEYC and participates in Early Achievers.

Strong candidates will be patient and professional, with a child-centered philosophy of how children learn and grow. Must be a team player and love all children. Must have a minimum of an AA in Early Childhood Education (or be working towards degree) and a minimum of 2-years teaching experience with young children. As an Early Achievers participating center, our faculty have access to scholarships and grants that cover their entire tuition for Early Childhood Education programs at local colleges.

Hutch Kids is committed to fostering a culture of belonging for children, families, and educators. Individuals from all backgrounds and identities are encouraged to apply given that their unique experiences and perspectives directly supports the need for all young children to have both mirrors and windows within our community.
