A leading community mental health organization seeks a crisis intervention specialist to provide support for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. Responsibilities include monitoring crisis situations, collaborating with emergency personnel, and assisting therapists. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and experience in managing behavioral health crises.

Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the Adult Mental Health Services/Crisis Services Coordinator, provides a supportive atmosphere for adults and children experiencing acute mental health crisis, works extensively with community emergency personnel including police officers and EMT’s, responds and oversees to crisis situations; and monitors program activity. Provides assistance to therapists and interacts with consumers in a short term crisis intervention program. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with adults and children experiencing behavioral health crisis in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for maintaining a secure environment. Responsible for obtaining and sharing information with therapists in the CMHA-CEI system. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements:Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D. is required. A minimum of six months’ experience working with consumers experiencing mental health crisis required.Must be able to problem solve crisis situations and de-escalate behavioral health crisis with Consumers both individually and in group settings. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of clinical diagnoses for this population Must be able to process information in order to recognize problems and solutions. Demonstrates knowledge and effectiveness in interpersonal skills including productivity and conflict resolution. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally is required. Ability to process extensive documentation is required.
Conditional Employment Requirements:Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Salary/Hours: $20.21 - $21.82 per hour. Saturday and Sunday 10am-10pm.
Location: Adult Mental Health Services/Crisis Services, Lansing, Michigan.
