Directs and supervises the nursing care and all related activities on the unit, assigned according to the policies and procedures of Grimes Center and the State and Federal agents.

Responsibilities

  1. Standards and Compliance: Follows established standards of nursing practices and implements facility policies and procedures. Interprets existing policies to staff, residents, families, and physicians. Assumes responsibility for compliance with regulations.
  2. Reporting: Obtains reports from relieving nurses and provides reports to incoming nurses with necessary follow-up information.
  3. Resident Care: Conducts rounds, directs care, initiates corrective actions, reports changes, and handles emergency situations.
  4. Supervision: Supervises and evaluates resident care, assigns duties, and explains care procedures.
  5. Clinical Supervision: Provides supervision to CNAs and LPNs, assesses patient data.
  6. Basic Nursing Skills: Administers medications and treatments, manages admissions/discharges, and coordinates transfers.
  7. Assessment and Documentation: Performs assessments, develops care plans, documents care and medication administration, and participates in care conferences.
  8. Staff Counseling and Evaluation: Counsels staff, recommends disciplinary actions, and participates in evaluations.
  9. Emergency and Safety Checks: Checks emergency equipment, completes reports, observes infection control, and adheres to safety policies.
  10. Communication and Teamwork: Works cooperatively with staff, welcomes new members, maintains professional appearance, and performs duties reliably.
  11. Chaperone Responsibilities: Escorts patients for procedures and ensures presence during certain examinations and treatments.
Qualifications

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Science preferred.

Experience: At least one year in rehabilitative, psychiatric, or geriatric nursing preferred.

Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse in Connecticut.

Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; maintains standards of care per regulations.
