Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the IV room, unit dose preparation, and medication distribution across OR, Endoscopy and OB units. You will perform aseptic IV admixture, inventory control, and labeling under pharmacist supervision, with attention to accuracy, safety, and regulatory requirements.

This role requires Pharmacy Technician registration in MA, PTCB certification or certification within 90 days, and strong math and computer skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of IV admixtures using aseptic technique.
• Fill unit dose and ADM, stock requisitions; maintain inventory in OR, Endo & OB.
• Deliver unit dose, ADM refills, IV solutions, and supplies to nursing units.
• Fill medication labels with pharmacist final check.
• Prepare pre-packaged medications in common quantities.
• Assist with inventory control of supplies and medications.
• Receive and shelve supplies and medications; perform cycle counts and monthly stock review.
• Clean pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.

Job Description:

• Assists in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, and other, using aseptic technique. (must be able to perform repetitive hand motions for IV Room assignments and prepacking.)
• Fills unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo & OB.
• Delivers unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solution and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units. (must be able to walk and/or stand for assigned shift)
• Fills medication labels, subject to final check by a pharmacist.
• Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
• Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications.
• Receives and shelves supplies and medications.
• Performs cycle counts and monthly review of stock for expired medications.
• Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.

Education/Experience Required:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam; all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee
• Must know basic IV admixture processes as well as sterile procedures
• Must have good math, computer and communication skills
• Must have clear understanding of medication names (brand and generic), common dosing and sig codes, and medical terminology
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Registration/Certification:

• Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Technician
• Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board). If not certified, must obtain certification within 90 days of start.
• Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB.

Pay Range: $20.59 - $36.45

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms ofthe applicable collective bargainingagreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
