Job summary

Qnity is seeking a First Line Manager (FLM) to lead manufacturing and maintenance across a rotating 12-hour schedule. You will coordinate shifts, drive safety, and ensure reliable production while optimizing staffing and equipment uptime.

The role requires strong leadership, 5+ years in manufacturing, and proficiency with MS Office and manufacturing systems. This position emphasizes cross-functional teamwork and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial, refinery, power generation, or related operational environment.
• Experience leading production operations and coordinating cross-functional teams in a 24/7 operation.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated experience managing workforce allocation, production priorities, and operational problem-solving.
• Ability to make effective decisions in fast-paced, changing production environments.
• Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline leadership for manufacturing and maintenance operations during assigned shifts.
• Lead shift change and handoff activities, ensuring clear communication of priorities, equipment status, workforce needs, and safety concerns.
• Make real-time operational decisions to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient production.
• Coordinate staffing and workforce deployment to support production goals and maintenance activities.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to maximize equipment availability and plant uptime.
• Drive rapid response to operational disruptions, equipment failures, process upsets, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Serve as a visible safety leader by conducting audits, observations, compliance reviews, and incident response activities.
• Support permit-to-work processes, including confined space entry, hot work, lockout/tag-out coordination, and contractor oversight.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication and alignment across manufacturing, warehousing, quality, utilities, engineering, and maintenance teams.
• Coach and support hourly employees and team leaders while reinforcing safety, operational excellence, and company values.
• Monitor key shift performance metrics including safety, quality, delivery, equipment uptime, labor utilization, and productivity.
• Drive accountability for shift results and ensure timely completion of action items and corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, productivity, cost, and operational effectiveness.
