Job summary

Fulton County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Security Specialist to maintain a safe environment for County employees and visitors. The role requires flexibility for various shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends, and passing a thorough background check and drug screening.

Must possess and maintain a State of Georgia Driver's License and demonstrate proficiency in applying county procedures, policies, and security practices to protect County property and people within the jail setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safeguard of County facilities: controls access/exit to buildings and parking lots; operates X-ray machines and metal detectors; patrols premises of facility; checks visitors for proper identification and security clearance; monitors corridors; conducts roving security rounds; records approved deliveries.
• Maintains files, records and inventory: completes required paperwork; maintains records; updates drug screen data base; orders supplies; maintains shipping and receiving records.
• Provides customer service to County employees, visitors and other government agencies: gives directions; answers inquiries; oversees item check-in and lost and found system; refers individuals in crisis to appropriate resources.
• Performs jail security and related duties: handles supplies; laundering; fitting and ordering uniforms; processes mail; monitors staff and inmates; records counts and incident reports; manages booking and court-related documents.
• Monitors security and safety systems: CCTV, alarms, fire safety; responds to emergencies and takes appropriate action.
• Supervises fleet and equipment maintenance: conducts maintenance checks and schedules services; ensures readiness of vehicles and equipment.
• Supervises community service workers: assigns duties and monitors performance.
