Job summary

The District of Columbia Government's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) seeks an IT Helpdesk Technician to handle Tier I/II support for hardware, software, and applications across agency end users. The role includes configuring software, managing user accounts, and documenting incidents to ensure operational readiness for the EOC and fusion center during activations.

Strong communication, patience, and organization are essential, with experience in emergency management IT

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or related field.
  • Specialized experience demonstrating competencies for IT support and emergency management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to agency end users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Install and configure software and equipment, manage user accounts, troubleshoot network and system problems, and escalate complex issues.
  • Maintain records of support requests and resolutions, document system configurations, and ensure EOC technology resources are operational.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified
