Job summary

McCrady Fire Department seeks a Firefighter II to respond to emergencies on a military installation, with 24/7 standby for fire suppression and rescue. You will operate fire apparatus, perform vehicle and equipment maintenance, and participate in required training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and Firefighter II (IFSAC/ProBoard) certification.
• NFPA-1582 physical standards with ability to wear SCBA.
• Valid SC state driver's license; able to obtain federal license if required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fire emergencies, rescues, hazardous material and medical calls on a military installation.
• Perform 24-hour standby for fire suppression and rescue operations under stressful conditions.
• Operate fire apparatus and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, tools and protective clothing.
• Participate in training and evaluation exercises as required.
• Provide medical assistance at EMR level or higher.
• Assume incident command if Senior Fire Officer is unavailable.
• Perform other duties as assigned by fire authorities.
