Job summary

Core Government Services seeks a Critical Facility Plant Operator for the VA Capital Region Readiness Center in Martinsburg, WV. The role requires constant monitoring of electrical, mechanical, environmental, fuel, and life-safety systems to protect critical readiness missions.

You will work on a 24/7/365 rotating schedule, perform rounds, respond to alarms, and dispatch CMMS work orders. Strong technical aptitude and calm under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting mission-critical facilities.
• Proficiency with Building Management Systems (BMS) and SCADA software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS work order software.
• High school diploma or GED; strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to remain calm and methodical under emergency alarm conditions.
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation (e-QIP / SF-85P) and obtain a VA PIV badge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct continuous 24/7/365 onsite physical watchstanding and computer-based monitoring of facility infrastructure and building systems.
• Perform scheduled rounds; inspect temperatures, pressures, fluids, electrical loads, and alarm panels.
• Serve as first-look responder to alarms; evaluate severity and escalate as needed.
• Prepare, manage, and dispatch work orders through the CMMS; log service calls and events.
• Maintain shift logs and deliver turnover briefings to relieving operators.
• Support preventive maintenance, routine tests, and minor repairs on plant equipment.
• Escort Government personnel, vendors, OEM technicians, and contractors to secure areas.
• Ensure CGS fatigue management standards are followed (max 10 hours per shift, 10-hour rest).

Prior military watchstanding experience (e.g., US Navy Nuclear/Engineering watchstander or DoD facility operator)
