Job summary

Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Utility Systems Operator to support the boiler plant and HVAC systems at the Copper Drive Division, CDD, Lexington, KY. The role includes operating three 500 HP boilers, two 950-ton chillers, and associated equipment, with 24/7 shift coverage and safety-aligned procedures.

The incumbent will monitor and adjust equipment, interpret blueprints, and respond to alarms to ensure energy efficiency and reliable service in a critical medical environment.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with chiller plant equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, diagrams, instructions and specifications.
• Understand critical alarms related to HVAC and life-support systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and repair boilers and chillers and related equipment.
• Monitor gauges, thermometers, graphs and indicators; respond to alarms and adjust equipment as needed.
• Utilize Metasys FMS to monitor and control HVAC and environmental systems.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures and review technical manuals and drawings.
• Work rotating 12-hour shifts to provide 24/7 coverage.
