Position Responsibilities
  1. Provide instructional support and reinforcement across academic, behavioral, and functional areas.
  2. Implement curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies under guidance.
  3. Assist with transfers, adaptive devices, tube feedings, diapering, bathroom assistance, and mobility training.
  4. Follow hygiene practices as per health policies.
  5. Coordinate and communicate with staff regarding student performance.
  6. Assist with data collection and monitoring student progress.
  7. Implement positive behavior strategies, manage behavior, and participate in safety procedures.
  8. Supervise during meals, recess, hallways, and field trips.
  9. Participate in training sessions and assist with transportation and instructional material preparation.
  10. Maintain records and support students with Individual Education Plans under supervision.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to provide instructional reinforcement and work independently with students.
  • Ability to handle physically aggressive students and those who are nonverbal.
  • Follow plans, confidentiality, and communicate effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift (up to 50 lbs.), walk, climb, bend, reach, and kneel.
  • Basic computer skills and maturity, patience, and compassion.
  • Experience working cross-culturally or a commitment to cultural competence.
  • Department of Public Instruction Certification or eligibility to apply.
  • Educational requirement: Associate’s Degree, 48 credits beyond high school, or passing assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Experience in public schools and with children with disabilities, including non-ambulatory and nonverbal children.
  • CPR and first aid certifications.
  • Proficiency in email, internet, and word processing.
