Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation in Suffolk, VA seeks an Assistant District Engineer to provide leadership, management, and technical direction for roadway and transportation design projects. The incumbent acts as responsible charge engineer and provides training and development to staff while maintaining compliance

Qualifications

• Valid Professional Engineer license required.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Extensive knowledge of roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, and specifications.
• Leadership and project/program management experience.
• Ability to supervise staff, programs, and budgets.
• Proficiency with computers, engineering software, and CAD applications.
