Job Description

This is a summary of the major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform as a meat cutter. The role includes:

1. Providing friendly and courteous customer service.
2. Using all tools, including power tools (saws, grinders, cubing machine, sealer, wrapper machine).
3. Weighing, wrapping, labeling, and pricing products.
4. Cleaning all meat equipment and tools.
5. Performing work in the service meat department.
6. Cutting and preparing all cuts of meat, including blocking beef, pork, lamb, and veal.
7. Grinding meat.
8. Cubing steaks and making patties.
9. Preparing products for the service meat case.
10. Engaging in suggestive selling and product sampling.
11. Receiving products from the warehouse.
12. Stocking, straightening, and rotating products in meat cases and coolers.
13. Reading and understanding shelf tags.
14. Following safety guidelines when using equipment.
15. Providing customers with proper cooking instructions.
16. Maintaining temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room.
17. Keeping the work area, equipment, and meat cases clean, following safety and sanitation guidelines.
18. Pulling product from the service case for storage at closing.
19. Performing other duties as assigned by store management.

Training

Training will be provided at the store level.

Physical Demands

• Bending and stooping.
• Working in a cold, wet environment.
• Lifting up to 125-150 pounds.
• Standing for the entire shift (8 hours).

Additional Requirements – Internal Candidates:

• Store/Facility Teammates: Minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Store Support Center Teammates: Minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, manager approval based on performance is required.

Compensation Pay Range:

$22.80 per hour.
