Taylorsville Elementary seeks a 21st Century Community Learning Center Program Coordinator to oversee grant administration and program delivery for students in the Taylorsville area. Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct the activities of the learning center for students.
  • Plan, develop, organize and evaluate learning programs and experiences for the students in a learning labs environment.
  • Develop and revise instructional materials appropriate for assigned age levels.
  • Purchase, inventory, store and maintain supplies and equipment for the center.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, students and parents.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to center employees, volunteers and students.
  • Establishes an Advisory Council to ensure the accomplishment of the project goals; serves as facilitator of Advisory Council.
  • Develops after-school curriculum to meet individual needs of participating students.
  • Identifies and recruits students and families in need of services.
  • Conducts annual needs assessment and evaluation.
  • Establishes relationships and community partners and collaborates in the delivery of services.
  • Provides supervision and leadership to all center staff, including volunteers.
  • Schedules and coordinates training of all personnel and volunteers.
  • Assumes fiscal management responsibilities for the allotted grant funds.
  • Meets regularly with District Finance Officer to ensure compliance with fiscal requirements.
  • Purchases adequate supplies and materials for Learning Center.
  • Publicizes activities and benefits of the center of the community.
  • Attends informational and networking meetings with other community organizations.
  • Coordinates data collection and record keeping for continuous evaluation & planning.
  • Provides periodic reports to the superintendent, principal, SBDM Council, and Board of Education as required.
  • Other duties as required to meet the goals and ensure the success of the 21st Century Learning Center.

JOB GOALS:

Will be an ambassador for Spencer County Public Schools and commit to offering excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff.

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Current concepts used in learning center for students.
  • Subject matter and curriculum planning for a student learning program.
  • Basic child psychology and principles and theories of child growth and development.
  • Principles and theories of parent-child relationships.
  • Policies, procedures and philosophy of a child development center.
  • Principles of supervision and training.
  • Health and safety requirements of children.
  • Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
  • Methods of observing, evaluating and recording child behavior.
  • Budget preparation and control.
  • Equipment, materials and supplies used in a preschool children's center.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
