Job summary

Books A Million’s 2nd & Charles stores seek a friendly associate to deliver outstanding customer service, assist with questions, and perform cashier duties. You’ll help customers find books and merchandise, participate in promotions, and maintain store presentation throughout shifts.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, processing sales, restocking, and upholding loss-prevention standards while supporting team tasks and inventory processes as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Successful completion of all background screenings.
  • Computer skills and cash register experience preferred.

  • Sales of all products, offer point of sale initiatives including Magazine program, Text 2 Mobile Program, Educator programs, and other company-sponsored programs.
  • Delivers and places product on the sales floor in accordance with merchandising guidelines and timelines.
  • Recovers the sales floor during each shift, including resetting displays, shelving books and product, and store housekeeping.
  • Protects company assets by adhering to loss prevention standards and integrity in all transactions.
  • Performs other duties including assisting in other departments and inventory tasks.

They should be knowledgeable about books and other merchandise in the store, proactively seek to assist customers, and provide an outstanding shopping experience.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provides customers with the highest level of customer service by greeting each customer, communicating and assisting customers with questions and orders, and efficient cashiering.
  • Sales of all products, offer point of sale initiatives including Magazine program, Text 2 Mobile Program, Educator programs, and other company-sponsored programs.
  • Delivers and places product on the sales floor in accordance with merchandising guidelines and timelines.
  • Recovers the sales floor during each shift, including, but not limited to resetting table and shelf displays, picking up items, shelving books and product, store housekeeping/cleaning tasks as required.
  • Protects company assets by adhering to all loss prevention standards and acting with integrity in all transactions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including, but not limited to assisting in other departments, including but not limited to buyback, receiving shipments, small fixture assembly and maintenance, assisting with inventory, and restroom cleanliness.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

Physical And Environmental Requirements
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to use hands/arms to operate a keyboard and telephone for repetitive motion activities
  • Must be able to lift or team lift objects up to 50 lbs., with or without assistance
  • Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without an assistive device
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, or crouch while performing daily activities of the job
