Job description

Geisinger Community Medical Center is seeking a Nocturnist Physician Assistant to join our growing team. We are proud to give our Hospital Medicine providers the innovative tools and support they need to do what they do best - provide exceptional care.

Location: Geisinger Community Medical Center – Scranton, PA

Department: Hospital Medicine

Work schedule: Night 7 nights on – 7 nights off (7pm – 7 am)

Work type: full time

Job Duties
  • Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
  • Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
  • Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients.
  • Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assesses the needs of patient and family.
  • Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.
  • Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
  • Screening patients.
