A leading community mental health center is hiring a Registered Nurse to work in a Children’s Therapeutic Respite Unit. Responsibilities include performing assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with medical teams to ensure quality care for children with various diagnoses. This position performs professional nursing duties assigned to a 16-bed Children’s Therapeutic Respite Unit. The nurse must possess strong knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of working with children with developmental, autism, and mental health diagnoses.
Responsibilities include admission assessments, medication administration and monitoring, education regarding diagnoses, providing RN delegation and training to support staff within the unit. The RN will conduct physical assessments and treatment planning as needed. Effective communication with all program and medical treatment teams is essential to ensure continuity of care.
The nurse must communicate effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic populations. Tasks and documentation are performed in accordance with legal and ethical nursing standards.
Supervision is provided by the Director of Residential Nursing for clinical matters such as medications, pharmacy, injections, genetic testing, phlebotomy/laboratory matters, and clinical assessments. Administrative matters are overseen by the Center Director, including requesting time off, scheduling, and office flow. Personnel concerns are addressed collaboratively by both directors.
