Job summary

AMD is seeking a US-based university student for a Spring/Summer/Fall co-op or internship. You will collaborate with engineers on discrete and embedded hardware products, and you will be trained to build applications for external and internal use while working on large-scale systems that improve AMD's hardware efficiency.

Eligible candidates are undergraduates in Electrical or Computer Engineering with interest in C/C++, Verilog/VHDL, Python and ML/AI.

Qualifications

  • This role requires enrollment in a US-based university in an undergraduate program (EE/CE or related).
  • Proficiency or strong interest in C/C++, Verilog/VHDL, Python and related EDA tools is expected.
  • Interest in ML/AI, ASIC design, and hardware verification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with hardware design, board layout, signal integrity and power design is a plus.
  • Experience with Unix environments and JTAG-based testing is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineers on AMD's discrete and embedded hardware products.
  • Learn to build applications for external/internal use and scale systems for AMD Hardware.

  • Locations: San Jose, CA or Santa Clara, CA
  • Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), in either a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term

  • Spring/Summer Co-op: January 15, 2027 - August 13, 2027
  • Summer Internship:
    • Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - August 13, 2027
    • Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - September 10, 2027
  • Summer/Fall Co-op:
    • Semester Students: May 24, 2027 - December 10, 2027
    • Quarter Students: June 21, 2027 - December 10, 2027
What You Will Be Doing
  • You will collaborate with Engineers and be responsible for some of AMD's discrete and embedded hardware products.
  • We will train you to build applications for external and internal use as well as large scale systems that improve the efficiency of AMD Hardware organization.
Who We Are Looking For
  • You are currently enrolled in a US based University into a Undergrad program majoring in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • If you have knowledge / experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply –
    • C/C++, Verilog, VHDL, Python, Perl, Spice, Ruby, Chrome OS, MATLAB.
    • ASIC design and verification.
    • ML and AI.
    • System/Board design, circuit board layout, signal integrity, power design.
    • Hardware automation, validation and test.
    • UNIX and JTAG tools.
    • Pre-silicon and/or post-silicon platforms.
    • Computer architecture, CPU & GPU architecture.
