Job summary

MasTec Renewables, part of the MasTec family, seeks an on-site Safety Administrative Support for our renewable construction projects. You will assist the Safety Manager and Coordinator, handle documentation, and coordinate safety trainings on-site.

Location involves traveling to project sites across the US for 12 weeks or more, with per diem and a mobilization stipend provided to assist with living and travel costs.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program studying Safety Management, Occupational Safety or Construction Management or a related field
• Maintain a GPA of 2.9 or higher
• Proficiency in MS Office to manage safety documentation and reporting

Overview

Responsible for providing general administrative support to the jobsite including tasks of moderate to advanced difficulty requiring excellent clerical skills in multiple areas of the Safety Department. Responsible for safety functions necessary to support the company Construction at assigned jobsite. Assists the Safety Manager and Safety Coordinator in all safety related matters.

Location & Travel Details

You’ll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renewable projects. This is an onsite position (relocation is required), where you will be onsite at a project location for the duration of 12 weeks or more. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. You will be offered a mobilization stipend to help with travel expenses to get to your project.

Responsibilities

Administrative, Employee Information and Reporting

• Assist with entering drug and alcohol testing results
• Scan employment documentation and log into system as needed
• Assist in preparing employee Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol files
• Enter training rosters into the the company Learning Zone or the company Training Database for classroom training sessions and safety training courses in the office and in the field for jobs without a Site Safety Coordinator
• Assist in the preparation of meetings and presentations
• Coordinate and present safety training to support the company and client requirements including planning, documentation, and presentation. This will include: New Hire Orientation and others dependent on experience and knowledge
• Have all necessary documentation printed and scanned for crew members when needed

Safety Compliance

• Work directly with the Site Safety Coordinator and the management team to develop and implement and maintain an effective site specific safety plan
• Communicate with the Safety Manager regarding safety matters
• Attend the weekly general safety meeting, weekly supervisor's safety meeting, and daily Gang box meetings, as required
• Participate in the jobsite R4 Safety Committee as required
• Back up drug and alcohol collector.
• Create and update new hire safety binders and manuals
• Maintain current safety info in Excel and pull safety records and stats when needed
• Order, track and ship supplies (i.e. stickers, posters, PPE, etc.) where needed
• Maintain jobsite first aid and emergency response supplies
• Understand all environmental permitting regulations and measures to ensure compliance

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program studying Safety Management, Occupational Safety or Construction Management or a related field
• Maintain a GPA of 2.9 or higher

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company's Zero Injury principles
• Functional computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as required to manage the safety program
• Type and write reports with accuracy and appropriate grammar
• Speak, and write clearly
• Excellent organizational skills and able to multi-task
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from employees
• Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations or a general safety background is helpful

Working Environment

• When visiting jobsites the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
• This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
