Job summary

Palomar's Summer Internship Program offers students and early-career professionals hands-on, technical experience across multiple technical departments, including Data & Analytics, Product Management, Software Engineering, and BI. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects and gain exposure to analytics, reporting, and process improvement.

The program runs June–August with hands-on collaboration, leadership guidance, and weekly professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (junior or senior year), pursuing a degree (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, Economics, or Finance) preferred.
• Minimum of 8 weeks availability to join the program (potential to extend to 10 weeks).
• Hybrid Work Environment - ability to work in office and from home.
• Preference of having passed at least 1 actuarial exam.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the development, testing, or maintenance of reports, dashboards, data models, or product features.
• Assisting with automation, tooling, or process-improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Collaborating with engineering, product, and analytics teams on system or product enhancements.
• Performing data validation, quality assurance, and analysis to support business decisions.
• Documenting technical processes, standards, and definitions for team reference.
• Presenting findings, recommendations, or product updates to stakeholders.

Summer Internship Program Description

The Palomar Summer Internship Program provides college students and early career professionals with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on, technical experience exploring a career in the insurance industry. Summer Interns will be exposed to various tasks and responsibilities within multiple technical departments at Palomar. As a growing Property & Casualty insurance organization, interns will contribute to meaningful assignments and projects that make an impact on Palomar's growth. The program runs from June through August.

What will you do

• Professional Development and Workshops weekly
• Palomar is a Hybrid work environment which means we will support a blended approach of working remotely and coming into the office on a regular agreed upon cadence. You will be required to be in the office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Internship Project

At the end of the Program, all summer interns will present an overview of their Internship Project(s). The final presentation is an opportunity for interns to share their internship experience with fellow interns and Palomar team members. It also provides a way to assess the overall internship program and enhance it for the future. Additional information will be shared during orientation.

What we are looking for

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (junior or senior year), a graduate student, pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university (preferred majors in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, Economics, or Finance)
• Minimum of 8 weeks availability to join the program with the opportunity to expand to 10 weeks.
• Have a passion to grow in a specific department.
• Have maintained an exceptional grade point average in college.
• Hybrid Work Environment - Ability to work in the office and from your home.
• Preference of having passed at least 1 actuarial exam.

Pay Range

$19/hour

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and qualifications, and may vary from the amounts listed above
