Summary

As a Renewables Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to support projects that help improve the performance, reliability, and sustainability of renewable energy generation facilities. This role provides meaningful, hands‑on experience in the power generation industry while contributing to APS's commitment to delivering reliable energy and supporting the communities it serves through clean energy solutions.

Potential Projects and Experiences

Who We're Looking For
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in engineering.
  • Demonstrated achievement and ongoing success in academic studies or training.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others and contribute to team‑based projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and power generation.
  • Preferred: GPA of 3.0 or higher.

This paid, full‑time internship spans 10 weeks during the summer. Interns receive mentorship, professional development, opportunities for site visits, networking and more.

Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3.0 GPA or higher.
Major Accountabilities
  • 1) Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies.
  • 2) Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.
  • 3) Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.
  • 4) Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.
  • 5) Performs other related duties as required.

CIP Requirement

This position requires Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access consistent with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. The applicant considered for this role will be required to obtain and maintain CIP access for the duration of employment in this position. A full seven (7) year criminal history will be obtained through the pre‑employment background check process (or, for current employees, through supplemental background check process) to fulfill the CIP access requirements. In addition, this position requires an additional background check every seven years to maintain access.

Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in‑person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in‑person at an APS or other (non‑home office) location.

  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
