Job summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston, Inc. is seeking Summer 2027 interns to join our Quality Assurance team in Kinston, NC. This 10-12 week program offers hands-on experience and mentoring in aircraft manufacturing, quality control and process improvement.

Interns will work on real projects, tour facilities, and build professional networks while gaining skills in problem solving, data analysis and teamwork within a supportive manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with active enrollment in a Bachelor's program in aerospace, engineering or manufacturing
• Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering majors highly preferred
• Office environment experience and strong time-management skills are desirable
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship is required

Responsibilities

• Assist Quality team with problem solving, transformation, lean manufacturing, and six sigma projects
• Learn root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes
• Update visual management schemes, metrics, and tools to aid operations
• Document 5S scores, audits, and focus on compliance topics
• Other duties as assigned

Airbus is looking for Summer 2027 Interns to join our Quality Assurance department based in Kinston, NC.

These positions are designed to provide students the opportunity to enhance their theoretical foundation through practical experience focused in several areas of the aviation manufacturing industry.

Our team at Airbus Aerosystems Kinston manufactures crucial aircraft components. Our Quality Engineers work with production teams on every aspect of assembly from managing technical information, quality control, & safety. Join our team and watch our aircraft come to life.

Your Working Environment:

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges:

• Assist Quality team by supporting problem solving, transformation, lean manufacturing, process/continuous improvement, innovation and six sigma projects.
• Learn the root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes at Airbus and assist/participate in improvement efforts.
• Update visual management schemes, metrics, and support analysis and tools to assist in operating manufacturing.
• Document 5S scores, housekeeping audits and FOD levels. Assist in compliance topics.
• Other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass:

• Willing to temporarily live in the Kinston, NC area during the internship.
• High School diploma or equivalent experience and currently enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program for aerospace, engineering or manufacturing
• Study in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering majors highly preferred
• Prior Airbus internship experience, highly preferred
• Some office work environment preferred. Must be well organized and have good time management skills. Ability to use computers and associated software.
• Requires use of computer and proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite. AutoCAD and VBA proficiency are preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English both verbally and written
• Proficiency in G-Suite and Microsoft applications, strong knowledge of technical terms.
• Authorized to Work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

• Onsite: 100%
• Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Required daily.
• Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Required daily.
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Required daily.
• Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Required daily.
• Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
• Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
• Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely required.
• Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Required daily.
• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Required infrequently.
• Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Required daily.
• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Approximately 5% - 10%.
• Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Required daily.
• Personal Protective Equipment required: steel toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
