Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and comprehensive update of team operational documents to align with current best practices.
  • Assist in advancing incomplete strategic projects and improve the team's calendar/tools.
  • Contribute to data validation tasks to ensure metric integrity.
  • Create user resources/docs for the eRSP SeRA tool replacing legacy Google Sheets docs.
  • Drive an operational project from planning through completion with team coordination

Job Description:

Airbus is looking for a Summer Intern - Supply Chain Planning to join our team based in Kinston, NC.

This intern role won't just file paperwork; you will be responsible for high-impact projects to modernize our strategic planning, validate critical data, and implement new digital tools that support the future of aerospace aftermarket.

Our team members ensure on-time delivery and on-quality of equipment and systems, drawing on their expertise in Industrial, Operations & Quality Management, and strong relationship building skills to problem-solve and proactively mitigate supply chain issues.

Your Working Environment:

The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges:
  • Process Documentation and Update: Lead the review and comprehensive update of team operational documents, specifically the 'Business Case Closure' and 'Business Case Preliminary Analysis' work instructions, to ensure accuracy and alignment with current best practices.

  • Strategic Initiative Support: Assist in advancing incomplete strategic projects for the team, including the development and improvement of the team's overarching process calendar and communication tools.

  • Data Validation and Quality Control: Contribute to tasks focused on data validation to ensure the integrity and reliability of operational metrics and reporting.

  • New Tool Resource Development: Collaborate on creating user resources and documentation for the 'eRSP SeRA' tool, which serves as the new platform for replacing legacy Google Sheets-based documents.

  • Operational Project Management: Drive the assigned operational project from planning through completion, coordinating with various team members to gather inputs and finalize deliverables.

Preferred:
  • Degree in Business Administration ,Operations Management, Industrial Engineering

  • Experience in Process Documentation or Mapping: Prior involvement in a project (academic or extracurricular)

  • Demonstrated Data Handling and Analysis Skills: Previous exposure to manipulating, validating, and presenting data

  • Previous experience in Independent or Group Projects: Evidence of strong organizational, time management, and project ownership skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Onsite or remote: 100%

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. 100%

  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.100%

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.100%

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. 100%

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. 20%

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. 10%

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. 10%

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. 90%

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. 10%

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visit, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
