Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. in Atlanta is seeking an Internal Audit Intern to assist with testing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.

You will work daily to conduct controls test work and assist with seasonal substantive testing for annual audits, gaining exposure to all departments involved in financial expenditures. We value a motivated self-starter with strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Preferred majors: Accounting, Finance, IS.
• Experience with MS Office and basic accounting, finance or information systems skills.
• Relevant audit and/or compliance coursework.
• Previous work experience in financial or accounting industry.
• Interest in pursuing a CPA is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Daily, an intern within Internal Audit will work independently to conduct controls test work and assist with seasonal substantive testing for various annual audits. This opportunity affords interns exposure to all Norfolk Southern departments involved with financial expenditures, and the capacity to contribute meaningful results used by the company for their annual financial statement, R1, and benefit plan audits.

Education/Experience:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree
