Job summary

TKDA’s internship program in Bloomington, MN offers undergraduates a hands-on summer experience in surface transportation, focusing on bridge design under supervision of P.E.s and technicians.

You will work 40 hours per week from May 25 to August 13, 2027, with potential flexible/hybrid arrangements, and contribute to final plans, cost estimates, and project documents.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with interest in bridges.
• Experience with Microstation, MathCAD, STAAD or Geopak.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

If you are an undergraduate pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an interest in bridge design, then consider joining our team this upcoming summer in Bloomington, Minnesota!

As a member of our Surface Transportation, you will apply your academic knowledge while working alongside Professional Engineers and Technicians who have established a reputation for generating safe and efficient designs for complex transportation infrastructure systems for the Department of Transportation, local agencies, and design-build contractors. While working on these projects, you will assist with highway bridge design, railroad bridge design, pedestrian bridge design and retaining wall design, and production of final plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

The ideal candidate would be available to work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime throughout thesummer of 2027from Tuesday, May 25 through Friday, August 13. This position would primarily work from our office in Bloomington, MN, or an assigned project site; however, there may be instances in which this position would be provided with flexible / hybrid work arrangements.

Final rate of compensation will be dependent upon your anticipated graduation date.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous coursework or project assignments related to structural or bridge design.
• Thorough understanding of drafting techniques, plan development, and related engineering practices.
• Previous experience developing construction plans and specifications.
