Job summary

MISO manages the electricity grid and energy markets in the Central U.S. The Service Line Strategy Intern will research industry trends and translate insights into strategic recommendations for the future of the electric grid.

You will build roadmaps and planning views using Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint, collaborating with leaders across planning and operations. The internship runs June 2–August 13, 2027, in Carmel, IN and Eagan, MN, with housing available for qualified students.

Qualifications

Power BI and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
AI/LLM experience is preferred.
Experience in areas such as power systems, energy markets, economics, strategic planning, data analysis, statistics, or business analytics.
Research projects or internships analyzing complex information and communicating findings.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

As our Service Line Strategy Intern, you'll contribute to MISO's Operations and Planning strategy by researching emerging industry trends and translating them into strategic insights and recommendations to help leaders prepare MISO for the future of the electric grid.

You'll gain hands-on experience with:

Researching emerging industry trends and assessing what they could mean for MISO's future capabilities
Helping translate insights into multi-year priorities and leadership-ready recommendations
Developing or improving strategic roadmaps, dashboards, and planning views using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and MISO's strategic planning tools
