Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan invites interns to join the Service Intelligence & Analytics team to build and explore analytic projects supporting customer and CSR experience. The program offers hands-on work, mentorship, and exposure to health insurance analytics within BCBSM’s Service Operations.

As an intern, you will gather information, research business problems, and assist management with practical solutions while engaging with leaders and peers across the organization.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA or higher required.
• Interns must be enrolled in a college/university for the duration of the internship.
• Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills to deal with multiple projects and priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suites and applicable BCBSM systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Job description

Service Intelligence & Analytics (SIA) is a team within Service Operations who are responsible for advanced analytics in support of Customer Service, with a specific focus on customer and CSR experience as well as strategic business modeling. SIA works closely with the Service Avengers group, who are a group of leaders from various functional areas within Service Ops, whose charter is to discover opportunities for improvement in the member/provider experience, operational performance, and day-to-day CSR practices. This position will primarily be focused on working with SIA in the development (and potential implementation) of a project that will impact a process, system, function, product, and/or service after working closely with team members from throughout Service Operations to uncover opportunities.

As an intern, you will be:

• Accountable for using analytics to develop a project(s) with moderate to complex scope and deliverables. Project scope may impact one or more business unit/function and typically impacts one or more of the following: process, system, function, product and/or service.

The Internship Program at BCBSM is designed to enhance the skills and abilities of young professionals as well as to identify and attract future talent for our organization. Interns will gain practical hands-on work experience as well as a solid understanding of the health insurance industry.
