Before any medicine leaves this site, it's tested extensively. You'd be working in the labs that do that testing — developing new test methods, improving existing ones, and helping to ensure results are accurate and reliable. Projects include working on assays (laboratory tests) that measure the potency, purity, and safety of biological medicines — using techniques such as ELISA, qPCR, next‐generation sequencing, electrophoresis (including capillary electrophoresis and iCIEF), liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy (such as FT‑IR), cell‑based potency assays, and microbiology testing (such as bioburden, endotoxin, and rapid microbial methods) — as well as evaluating new instruments, automating and digitizing tests with liquid‑handling robots, and analyzing data to identify patterns or improve methods. Depending on your project, you might also support assay development for new molecules and for cell and gene therapy programs, investigate how stability conditions or cell culture practices (such as days in culture or the cell propagation method) affect assay results, or run side‑by‑side comparison studies of new and existing instruments or methods and write up the results. Most projects involve hands‑on lab work alongside data analysis, and many involve drafting a study plan and writing a technical report. Comfort with pipetting, aseptic technique, cell culture basics, and data recording is helpful.
We are committed to building a workplace with an inclusive culture.
