Westfield Specialty invites students to join the 2027 Summer Intern Program in Berkeley Heights, NJ. This paid 10‑week internship offers hands‑on insurance industry experience, mentorship, and real project work alongside senior leaders.

Interns rotate through Operations and related teams, with training, networking, and potential full‑time opportunities after graduation. Openings include Locations such as Berkeley Heights and opportunities across Underwriting, Claims, IT and more.

Qualifications

• Currently matriculated student enrolled at a 4 year college or university pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Masters degree.
• Strong GPA preferred (Minimum GPA of 3.2 required).
• Strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills.
• Leadership experience through work or involvement in community service, athletics, clubs, or other activities preferred.
• Technically adept/digitally savvy.
• Ability to be onsite in office 4 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operational tasks, such as document processing, policy issuance, and record maintenance.
• Help review and verify insurance applications and forms for completeness and accuracy.
• Support processing of endorsements, renewals, and cancellations.
• Help identify data inconsistencies and perform quality assurance checks.
• Generate reports and summaries to support underwriting, claims, or compliance teams.
• Collaborate with departments such as underwriting, claims, customer service, and compliance to resolve operational issues.
• Assist in responding to internal inquiries related to policy status, documentation, or process flows.
• Document and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) or process maps.
• Attend training sessions to learn about insurance products, policy administration systems, and regulatory requirements.
• Gain exposure to business operations and how they support the overall insurance value chain (underwriting, claims, billing, customer service).
• Shadow professionals across different departments to understand cross-functional operations.
• Help ensure policies and procedures follow company guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Assist with preparation for internal or external audits by organizing and retrieving required documentation.

Job description

The Westfield Specialty Intern Program is a paid, ten-week program that offers students the opportunity to obtain firsthand insight into the insurance business. Every day you'll learn and develop your skills but you'll also have a clear and supportive path ahead of you. You'll gain the confidence to take on real projects, build your network and learn from senior leaders across our business. The 2027 Summer Intern Program will run from June 7th to August 13th.

We are seeking Intern candidates to work with our Operations team in our Berkeley Heights, NJ office.

Participants in the Westfield Specialty Summer Intern Program are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, growing insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands‑on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the 10‑week program. As a summer intern you will work side‑by‑side with industry leaders on dynamic projects that provide ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.
