Job summary

First Citizens Bank is offering a hybrid summer internship in Raleigh, NC within the Data & Analytics team to support procurement analytics and automation initiatives. You will gain hands-on experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects, delivering insights, dashboards, and data improvements.

Ideal candidates are rising juniors or seniors pursuing a Bachelor's in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or MIS, with strong Excel, SQL, and data visualization skills,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience.
• Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
• Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program

Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis and provide insights to support business decision making processes
• Assist with developing innovative ways to increase data intelligence within the business
• Be part of a dynamic team with interesting projects.
• Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support.
• Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking and community service events.
• Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
• Be assigned a project, designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem that you will present at the close of the internship.
• Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship

The Data & Analytics team supports the Procurement organization from Sourcing to Purchasing in reporting, dashboard creation, managing data quality across the procurement products and developing automation processes to increase efficiency in tasks.

Required qualifications:

Preferred qualifications

• Current Junior/rising Senior
• Pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Information Systems or Management Information Systems (within a business program)
• Experience with Advanced Excel, SQL, Data Analytics including automation techniques
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau
• Proficient in AI & digital skills
  • Foundational understanding of generative AI, including appropriate use cases, limitations, data privacy requirements, and responsible AI governance.
  • Ability to effectively utilize AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) by developing clear prompts and refining outputs to support business analysis and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to validate AI-generated content, identify unsupported conclusions, and verify results against underlying data sources.
  • Ability to apply sound business and accounting judgment when leveraging AI tools, ensuring outputs are accurate, reliable, and suitable for professional use
