Job summary

Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering or related field and bring strong analytical and Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Strong analytical skills and Excel proficiency; exposure to Spotfire, Python, ARIES, ComboCurve is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
  • Self-starter with attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Support the M&A team in evaluating acquisition and divestiture opportunities.
  • Perform technical and economic evaluations of oil & gas assets, including production forecasting, decline curve analysis, reserves assessment, and well-level economics.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of commodity prices, production performance, operating & capital costs, development assumptions, and other key variables on asset value.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, land, geology, and other technical teams to develop and refine assumptions used in M&A evaluations.
  • Prepare clear, concise technical analyses and presentation materials summarizing M&A opportunities for senior management and C-suite executives.

  • Gain exposure to our oil and gas business while assisting with projects aligned with our company goals.

  • Take part in professional development activities such as training, site visits, and networking opportunities.


Intern - M&A Engineering:


  • Support the M&A team in evaluating acquisition and divestiture opportunities across the oil and gas sector

  • Perform technical and economic evaluations of oil & gas assets, including production forecasting, decline curve analysis, reserves assessment, and well-level economics

  • Perform sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of commodity prices, production performance, operating & capital costs, development assumptions, and other key variables on asset value

  • Collaborate with finance, operations, land, geology, and other technical teams to develop and refine assumptions used in M&A evaluations

  • Prepare clear, concise technical analyses and presentation materials summarizing M&A opportunities for senior management and C-suite executives


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must be currently enrolled as a rising junior or rising senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline at an accredited college/university at the time of the internship

  • Strong interest in the oil & gas industry and a desire to learn how engineering analysis is applied to M&A, asset valuation, and strategic decision-making

  • Familiarity with petroleum engineering fundamentals, including production analysis, reservoir engineering, and economic evaluation

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to Spotfire, Python, ARIES, ComboCurve, or similar economic/forecasting software is a plus

  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic

  • Ability to analyze large datasets and communicate key findings clearly and concisely

  • Eagerness to contribute in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
