Job summary

The Hubbell Summer Intern in Engineering – Mechanical Design will explore optimizing rod-clamp designs for Q*Sil Post silicone molds using FEA, prototyping and testing. You will evaluate materials, clamp configurations and closure-force control to improve mold performance and process consistency.

You’ll work in teams, apply classroom knowledge to real projects, develop technical skills, and deliver a presentation to local management at program end, gaining industry insight.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (required).
• Basic 3D CAD skills (required).
• Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.
• Previous experience in metalworking or machining preferred.

2027 Summer Intern: Engineering - Mechanical Design

The Hubbell Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell.

This intern will focus on optimizing rod-clamp designs for Q*Sil Post silicone injection molds through FEA analysis, prototype development, and testing, while evaluating materials, clamp configurations, and closure-force control methods to improve mold performance and process consistency.

Intern compensation is determined based on academic standing and expected graduation date. Hourly rates for this position range from $22.50 to $29.00 per hour ($46,800–$60,320 annualized equivalent).
