Job summary

Spectrum is offering a paid 11-week internship for Electrical Engineering students, running May 26 through August 6, 2027. The program targets students with a 3.0 GPA or higher who are rising seniors and pursuing an engineering degree at an accredited college or university.

You will work in two teams—the department and the intern cohort—focusing 80% on project work and 20% on development sessions, networking, and final presentations, with mentorship throughout the program.

What you can expect in this role

As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.

This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.

Internship responsibilities may include:

• The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for managing the installation, operations, and maintenance of vertical equipment supporting our flagship platforms. Additionally, the intern will assist with critical infrastructure planning and operations. The intern will greatly assist in the day-to-day operations of the Kennewick Regional Data Center.
• Power planning, HVAC planning, Data Center architecture and resource allocation, Layer 1 cable installation / management

Required qualifications

• Must be a rising senior with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degree
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
• Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship

• Data center critical infrastructure skills -- Power, HVAC, Cable planning, project management
