General Motors' map research internship in Warren, MI invites students pursuing a Masters in computer science or related field to join the Map Crowdsourcing and Enhancements team. You will work on ML models, geospatial analytics, and cloud-based data workflows to support AV/ADAS features like Super Cruise.

You'll develop with Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, PySpark, and Azure Databricks, analyzing large datasets, visualizing results, and maintaining technical documentation while gaining industry

Formación

• Currently enrolled in a full-time Masters program in computer science or related field.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Python skills and ML libraries: PyTorch/TensorFlow.
• Experience with cloud environments: Azure Databricks and Google Cloud Platform.

About the Team:

TheProduction Mappingorganization plays a pivotal role in the software development ofmapping solutions to support AV/ADASat General Motors. This teamis responsible fordelivering integrated and tested software for various GM features, including Super Cruise.

About The Role:

In this role, you will help the Map Crowdsourcing and Enhancements team solve complex mapping problems using machine learning, advanced algorithms, large-scale data processing, and cloud computing. You will contribute across the development lifecycle—from exploring vehicle data and developing models or algorithms to building scalable data workflows, deploying solutions, and evaluating their performance. Areas of focus may include machine learning, geospatial analytics, distributed data processing, workflow automation, and cloud-based software development.

WhatYou’llDo:

• Build, deploy, and optimize models and algorithms using cloud-based compute environments such as Azure Databricks and Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop scripts to manage data workflows using Python orPySpark
• Analyze large datasets to discover trends and patterns
• Present complex information using data visualization techniques
• Create andmaintaintechnical documentation
• Complete training, learning, and skills development

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program andin the process of obtaininga Masters in computer science or a related field.
• Able to workfulltime,40 hoursper week.
• Python software skills and experience with ML libraries such asPyTorchor TensorFlow
• Experience working with cloud environments and data platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, Azure Databricks, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Demonstratable fundamentals in statistical modeling and machine learning frameworks and tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with geospatial data and analytics
• Intent to return todegree-programafter the completion of the internship.
• Graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.

Compensation:

• The monthly salary range for this role is $10,100 per month
• GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2027 Student Program.
