Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. is offering a summer internship for undergraduate and graduate students in STEM fields. You will engage in static and dynamic structure analysis, review materials and subsystem requirements, and work with senior engineers to develop and validate design concepts for space applications.

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in Fall 2027 and be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. The program runs for at least 10 weeks with full-time hours (40 hours/week).

Qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time in Fall 2027 in an accredited college/university.
  • Major in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
  • Available for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027, full-time (40 hours/week).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing static and dynamic structure analysis.
  • Reviewing requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.
  • Selecting appropriate technical information and data from applicable products.
  • Determining the technical principles involved, identifying the design path forward and computing the engineering characteristics to ensure consistency with the specifications design needs and requirements of space applications.
  • Releasing results as “technical documents” after review by the senior members of the team.
  • Developing innovative solutions and elaborating on design concepts.
  • Evaluating completed designs with supervisor and other technical groups, and making modifications necessary to achieve the most ideal design.
  • Developing, coordinating, and conducting test programs required to evaluate design work

Basic Qualifications
  • Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027
  • Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
