Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree program in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
  • Completion of at least 90 credits, including two or more design courses by the start of the internship.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in Bachelor's coursework.
  • Basic knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals (e.g., free body diagrams, P/V/M diagrams).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and organizational abilities, with an ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

Job Description

As a Structural Engineering Intern at KPFF, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on real‑world projects, gaining hands‑on experience in various phases of the design and construction process. This internship provides valuable structural analysis, modeling, and design exposure while allowing you to contribute ideas and solutions that enhance project efficiency and integrity.

What You Will Do

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in Bachelor's coursework.
  • Basic knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals (e.g., free body diagrams, P/V/M diagrams).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and organizational abilities, with an ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-process of obtaining a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Previous internship experience in a structural or civil engineering role.
  • Completed coursework in Structural Statics and Dynamics, Steel Design, Concrete Design, Wood Design, and Seismic Analysis and Design.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Interns primarily work in a standard office setting with occasional travel to project sites.
  • Field visits may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Must comply with all safety requirements in the office and on job sites.
Internship Duration
  • The internship typically runs 10-12 weeks during the summer, with full‑time hours.
  • Exact start and end dates may vary depending on the student's availability.
Additional Information

Compensation: KPFF values the contributions of our interns and strives to provide fair and competitive compensation based on location and market standards. For this position, compensation includes:

  • Hourly Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and local office standards.
  • Overtime Eligibility: Interns may be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with local labor laws.
