KPFF Consulting Engineers invites you to join our Structural Engineering Summer Internship for seniors and MS students in Los Angeles. You will work with experienced engineers on real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience in structural design and the preparation of calculations and construction documents.

The role is non-exempt, temporary, with a pay rate of $31.50 per hour for interns with a bachelor’s degree, and a hybrid work schedule with some in-office and remote opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structures or Architectural Engineering) before start.
• Transcripts must show courses in Structural Analysis, Mechanics of Materials, and Steel/Wood Design.
• Internship requires eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

KPFF is seeking summer interns interested in experiencing the daily life of a Structural Engineer. Weprovide you with a summer packed with training programs to prepare you to be successful, activities tohelp you connect with our team, and real-world projects to apply your skills. At KPFF, 2 out of 3 of ourinterns return as full-time employees or return for another internship in the next year.

Who We Are Looking For

Students curious about Structural Engineering and wanting to understand the daily life of a StructuralEngineer. We enjoy working with interns who are eager to contribute to their teams and who areinterested in making connections and getting to know the people they work with. For this role you willneed to have completed a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Structures orArchitectural Engineering, prior to the start of the internship.

You are interested in Structural Engineering and would like the opportunity to be exposed to a widerange of projects and conditions. You enjoy working with and learning from others to create work thatyou are proud of. You take the initiative to solve challenging problems and are a proactive team member.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in structural design, workingclosely with our experienced engineers on real-world projects. You will have the opportunity to applyyour academic knowledge, develop your skills, meet other students who are in the same eld, andcontribute to meaningful work. You will assist in the preparation of calculations and constructiondocuments on active jobs under the guidance of project leaders. You will have the opportunity toparticipate in project meetings and site visits.

Position Overview

This is a non-exempt, temporary position. All overtime hours are paid at a time-and-a-half hourly rate.

The pay rate for this position is $31.50 an hour for interns awarded a bachelor's degree prior to the start of the internship.

Monthly Way We Work stipend toassistwith remote work and transit expenses.

Minimum Qualifications

You must possess a completed bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Structures orArchitectural Engineering) prior to the start of the internship.

Transcripts must show completed courses in:

• Structural Analysis
• Mechanics of Materials
• Steel or Wood Design

Work Schedule

40-hour work schedule, Monday through Friday. Interns work Monday-Thursday in our Orange County Irvine office. Interns have the option to work remotely on Fridays from home.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
• Duties require the ability to actively engage witha computer for several hours per day.
• May occasionally need to lift items up to 15 lbs.
• Duties require in-person attendance, Monday through Friday, during our business hours of 8 AM to 5PM at our office in Downtown Los Angelesfor the training period.
• Following a satisfactory training period, a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week Monday throughThursday in the office, and Fridays from home may be accommodated.
