Job summary

Textron in Augusta, GA offers a 10-week Strategic Sourcing Intern role designed to give hands-on experience on real projects with experienced professionals. You will work on supplier selection, make vs. buy analyses, and supplier transitions to optimize the supply chain.

Mentorship and development opportunities accompany real project work, with exposure to cross-functional teams and a chance to contribute to cost reduction initiatives while supporting accounts payable for timely payments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or related field.
• Software knowledge: SAP and Microsoft Office apps.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to manage a global base.

Responsibilities

• Participate in sourcing activities for new product launches and changes.
• Assist with selecting and managing suppliers.
• Perform make vs. buy analysis to optimize supply chain.
• Support supplier transition to move work between suppliers or in-house to external suppliers.
• Assist supplier and quality teams to address delivery and quality issues.
• Coordinate RFQ packages with the supply base.
• Contribute to supplier rationalization efforts.
• Identify and implement cost reductions as part of VA/VE teams.
• Assist Accounts Payable to ensure timely supplier payments.

Responsibilities

• Participate in sourcing activities related to new product launches and current product changes.
• Assist with selecting and managing suppliers.
• Perform make vs. buy analysis to determine optimum supply chain.
• Support supplier transition process to move work from one supplier to another or from in‑house factory to external supplier.
• Support Materials and Quality teams to address supplier delivery and quality issues.
• Coordinate RFQ (Request for Quote) packages with supply base.
• Contribute to supplier rationalization efforts.
• Assist with efforts to identify and implement cost reductions as part of VA/VE team.
• Assist Accounts Payable as needed to ensure suppliers are paid on time.
