Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. invites engineers and MBA students to join its MIT LGO Accelerated Leadership Development Program. The role features three rotational assignments across manufacturing domains, mentorship from senior leaders, and a focus on leadership development over a 12–18 month period.

Location flexibility includes Peoria, IL, East Peoria, IL, Decatur, IL, Dallas, TX with on-site attendance five days a week. Sponsorship and relocation support are available.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an MBA program and have completed an Engineering/Engineering Technology or Computer Science degree.
• Strong problem solving, analytical mindset, and ability to work across diverse teams.
• Experience from projects, internships, or relevant professional settings in engineering/manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a multi‑phase rotational program across defined areas (e.g., New Technology Validation, Autonomy, Design, Electrification).
• Receive mentorship from a Caterpillar executive and engage in leadership development activities.
• Engage in experiential learning opportunities and a 12–18 month assignment.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver real-worldimpact within manufacturing environments.

What You Will Do

The Caterpillar Accelerated Leadership Development Program is designed to provide experienced professionals with an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience that enables them to make a real‑world impact. MIT LGO graduates who join Caterpillar, a proud LGO partner company, will have the opportunity to complete a multi‑phase program that includes:

• Participant choice of three rotational assignments that include but are not limited to the following areas: New Technology Validation Autonomy Design Product Electrification Product Value Chain Design Strategic Procurement Lean Innovation Manufacturing Operations Field Assignment (Mine Site Autonomy Deployment or Services Growth)
• Mentorship by a senior Caterpillar Executive
• Intentional Leadership Development & Experiential Learning Opportunities.
• 12–18 month assignment

What You Have – Skills and Experiences

Analytical skills, initiating ideas, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem‑solving, and critical thinking capabilities Knowledge of engineering principles, theory, and engineering experience gained through projects, internships, and/or relevant work experiences Fundamental understanding of engineering for a manufacturing environment, ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to quickly gain, and effectively apply new skills & knowledge Success in collaborating with others of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, and abilities Strong written, and verbal communication skills Participate in, and build on our inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment Ensure all team member’s contributions are recognized and valued

Degree Requirements

Currently attending a 2-year accredited university/college MBA program and have completed an Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science Degree

Other Requirements

Expected graduation by August 2027 Must be willing to travel and relocate domestically

Top candidates will also have

• Hands‑on Experience: Participation in campus design or competition teams, or similar hands‑on technical projects.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership in team settings or project management roles.
• Industry Exposure: Previous technical internship, co‑op, or other relevant professional experience.
• Communication Strength: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Summary Pay Range: $147,760.00 - $221,640.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
