Job summary

AbbVie Inc. in Worcester, MA is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Co-Op for January–July 2027. You will work hands-on with the reliability program, applying CMMS, predictive maintenance, and life-cycle tools to support asset performance.

The role requires an undergraduate pursuing a related engineering degree, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate across maintenance, engineering, and project teams. In-person work at ABBVIE Bioresearch Center is required.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or related field.
• Must be enrolled for at least one semester after the co-op.
• Commit to a 6-month in-person co-op at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA (Jan–Jun).

Responsibilities

• Direct the strategy and execution of facility systems using CMMS for predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Support development and maintenance of the site reliability program and projects.
• Apply reliability tools such as Life-Cycle costing, Pareto, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
• Use predictive maintenance technologies like Ultrasound and Vibration analysis to identify issues.
• Assist in asset maintenance planning and critical spare parts strategies.
• Collaborate with maintenance, inventory, Project Engineering, Controls Engineering, Site Operations, and Maintenance to support the reliability program.

Engineering supports and enables all functions throughout the facility by operating the building utilities and control systems, maintaining the entire facility, providing technical support, managing capital projects, qualifying systems, and providing drafting support.

The Reliability Engineer Co-Op position reports to the ReliabilityEngineer orReliabilityManagerandis responsible for:

• Utilizing our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to direct the strategy and execution of facility systems, predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Supporting the development, execution, and maintenance of the site,asset reliability program, and associated projects.
• Supporting reliability and engineering toolssuch as Life-Cycle costing, Pareto, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.
• Applying predictive maintenance technologies such as Ultrasound and Vibration analysis on a variety of equipment and systems to identify potential equipment failures and recommend the appropriate corrective action.
• Supporting the site reliability program including asset criticality,maintenance strategyand critical spareparts.
• Working with maintenance and inventory personnel in development of asset critical sparepartsstrategyand continuous improvement efforts.
• Working closely with Project Engineering, Controls Engineering, Site Operations,andMaintenanceto fulfill primary job responsibilities, and will regularly interface with site engineering managementregardingthe status of the Reliability program.
• SupportingAsset Maintenance Plan to ensure adequate levels of sustaining effective maintenancejob plansand critical spare partsfor each plantasset.
• SupportingReliability Engineer asneeded.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in university, pursing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related field.
• Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the co-op
• Must be able to commit to a 6-month duration in-person at AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, MA (January - June).

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication, adaptability, networking, and creative problem-solving skills
• Exposure to computerized maintenance management and business systems, including Maximo, SAP, and SharePoint
