Job summary

Wealthspire is offering a 10-week Summer Internship within its Cybersecurity team in Chicago, IL. This program provides hands-on exposure to monitoring, threat detection, and incident response, while teaching secure architecture and regulatory compliance.

As a rising senior pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity or related field, you will collaborate across Technology, Risk, and business units, gain practical experience, and develop skills for a career in financial services cybersecurity.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, or related field.
• Interest in cybersecurity, risk, and information security.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, networks, and OS.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and maintain attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborates in a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and assist with incident response.

Internship Program Overview

Our 10-week Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to learn about the practices that safeguard the firm’s systems, data, and technology infrastructure. As part of the Wealthspire Cybersecurity team, the intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting proactive monitoring, threat detection, and incident response, while developing an understanding of secure architecture design and maintenance. The intern will collaborate with colleagues across Technology, Risk, and the business to learn how security best practices are applied, risks are mitigated, and business objectives are supported while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Support the Cybersecurity team with monitoring systems and reviewing security alerts.
• Assist with identifying, documenting, and escalating potential security threats or vulnerabilities.
• Participate in incident response activities and help maintain accurate incident documentation.
• Support security assessments, testing, and remediation tracking.
• Assist with maintaining cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Technology, Risk, and business teams on cybersecurity initiatives.
• Conduct research on emerging threats, security trends, and industry best practices.
• Help promote cybersecurity awareness and support compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Complete additional cybersecurity projects and assignments throughout the internship.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodations available to support the performance of essential job functions.

Qualifications

• Preferably a rising senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Strong interest in cybersecurity, technology risk, and information security.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, networks, operating systems, or cloud technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills
• Problem solving skillset, paired with the ability to handle multiple projects at one time
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Previous internship, academic project, or coursework related to cybersecurity is preferred but not required.

The summer internship experience provides interns with meaningful exposure to the financial services industry. Interns will gain experience in IT/Cybersecurity function, while building valuable skills for a successful career.

The hourly range for this position is $20.00 – $22.00 per hour. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
