Job summary

Textron Aviation Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer intern to help develop and implement quality control procedures in an MR&O environment, gaining hands-on experience on real projects with experienced professionals.

Responsibilities include audits, supplier inspections, RCCA investigations, writing procedures, KPI tracking, and supporting continuous improvement with cross-functional teams. Summer internships are 10 weeks, 40 hours per week, onsite in Mesa, AZ; applicants must be authorized

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field.
  • Strong knowledge of QA practices and ISO/AS9110 quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ensuring compliance to customer, ISO/AS9110 and FAA regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in product, process, or RCCA investigations and provide technical assistance of resolutions.
  • Assist in internal & external audits and provide objective evidence of compliance.
  • Conduct source inspection at supplier facility; including documentation/certification review, dimensional inspection, and conformance to purchase order requirements.
  • Review technical requirements and approve purchase orders to ensure they are flowed down.
  • Write and revise quality procedures as necessary.
  • Assist Quality Manager with developing and implementing quality programs, including tracking, analyzing and reporting KPI’s.
  • Write and follow up on internal and external corrective actions for root cause analysis.
  • Analyze, identify, and implement manufacturing and/or business process improvements.
  • Perform initial investigation of all customer warranty claims.
  • Provide support in developing and evaluating process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions, and process audits.
  • Develop, implement, and audit inspection and test plans, acceptance criteria, and process/work instructions.
  • Assist in establishing technical advice & maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement to cross-functional teams.
  • Work towards completing assigned project(s).

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer intern is responsible for assisting in developing and implementing quality control procedures in an MR&O environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough knowledge of surface treatments, stripping, blasting, machining, grinding, welding, shot peening, heat treatments, blending, bonding and NDT as it relates to component repair & overhaul.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicated internally and externally.
  • Ability to make critical decisions and problem solve to improve business processes.

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.

Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
