Job summary

Textron invites motivated interns to join the Facilities Engineering team in Wichita for a 10-week summer program. You will coordinate design, construction, renovation, and repair of facilities, assist with cost estimates and schedules, and support capital projects within approved budgets.

This hands-on role offers exposure to architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical facets of Textron Aviation facilities.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, Construction Science, Architecture or Civil Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit preferred; familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate contractors and engineers to manage facilities design, construction, renovation, and repair.
  • Develop cost estimates, project schedules, and provide progress status.
  • Assist with capital project implementation within approved budgets.
  • Support annual and long-range strategic planning and energy conservation efforts.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other software to update facility drawings and records.

Job description

Why This Internship

As an intern with Textron, you’ll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You’ll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways – working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.

JOB SUMMARY:

Interns will work as a part of our Facilities Engineering team whose responsibility is to coordinate design and construction of facilities, installation of new equipment, renovation and repair of facilities, and various other projects of an architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical nature. Candidates will play a crucial part in solving complex engineering problems involving Textron Aviation facilities, maintenance, processes, systems, and equipment. Interns will be involved with a variety of projects that will provide exposure to many of Textron Aviation’s Wichita facilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate contractors and consulting engineers to manage facilities design, construction, renovation, and repair
  • Develop cost estimates, project schedules, and provide progress status
  • Conduct design evaluations, economic evaluations, and prepare technical reports
  • Assist with implementation of capital projects per approved budget
  • Assist with annual and long-range strategic planning
  • Support energy conservation projects
  • Support manufacturing equipment installation
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other software to update facility drawings and records
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Architectural Engineering
  • Construction Science
  • Architecture
  • Civil Engineering
  • Other related fields
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time, priority setting, and project management skills
  • Sharp eye for detail
  • Great analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit preferred

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks. Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
