Textron Aviation is offering an engineering internship in Wichita focused on avionics and electrical systems. You will participate in requirements capture, design, validation, troubleshooting, and certification activities for Textron Aviation Defense and Special Missions products.

You will work with managers and engineers to develop critical systems, learn CAD drafting, test instrumentation, and prepare documentation while gaining real project experience in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer, Engineering Technology or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to learn and apply engineering standards and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical systems with CAD tools.
• Use electronic test equipment to verify design requirements and troubleshoot.
• Develop trade studies, test procedures, and certification plans.
• Write technical descriptions for design or test requirements.
• Evaluate and analyze avionics/electrical system designs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Candidates in this role will gain valuable engineering experience in the area of aircraft avionics and electrical systems including requirements capture, design, validation, troubleshooting, and qualification/certification. Working with managers and key players in Engineering, Candidates will assist in the development of crucial systems on Textron Aviation Defense and Special Missions products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical systems including but not limited to interface wiring diagrams and harness assemblies using computer based drafting tools (Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics)
• Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for system troubleshooting in the lab and/or on aircraft
• Prepare engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans, certification reports, and other engineering documents
• Write technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements
• Evaluation and analysis of avionics and electrical system designs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in:

• Electrical Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Engineering Technology
• Aerospace Engineering

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience with electronic test equipment preferred but not required
• Electronic drafting experience with Siemens Capital preferred but not required

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.

Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
