Job summary

Textron Aviation is offering a 2027 internship for an Avionics and Electrical Systems Engineer with hands-on design and testing exposure. You will contribute to capturing requirements, development, and certification of aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

Preferred candidates are enrolled in a BS Engineering program (Electrical/Computer/Tech) with CAD and programming exposure, and strong written communication.

Qualifications

  • 60 credit hours toward BS Engineering (Electrical/Computer/Tech).
  • Minor or relevant coursework in Technical Writing, Business Administration, or Computer Programming is beneficial.
  • Electrical drafting/ CAD tools experience preferred (CATIA/CCD or Siemens Capital).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical system interface wiring using CAD tools (CATIA/CCD and/or Siemens Capital).
  • Use electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements and for troubleshooting.
  • Assist in preparing engineering trade studies, test procedures, certification plans, and test reports.
  • Write technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements.
  • Assist with evaluation and analysis of avionics and electrical system design for functional hazard and safety assessments.

Description
Why This Internship

As an intern with Textron, you'll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You'll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways - working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.

JOB SUMMARY

Gain valuable engineering experience in the area of design requirements including capture, design, validation,

troubleshooting, and certification of aircraft avionic and electrical systems. Assist in the development and evaluation of

crucial systems on Textron Aviation Products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical system interface wiring using computer based drafting tools(CATIA/CCD and/or Siemens Capital).
  • Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for systemtroubleshooting in the lab and on aircraft.
  • Assist in preparing engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans,certification reports, and other engineering documents.
  • Write technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements. Includes descriptions of supplierparts, test or rigging specifications, etc.
  • Assist with the evaluation and analysis of avionics and electrical system design for completion of function hazardassessments and system safety assessments.
Qualifications
EDUCATION

Prefer completion of 60 hours while currently enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Technology).

Minor or relevant coursework in Technical Writing, Business Administration, or Computer Programming is beneficial

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with electronic test equipment preferred
  • Electronic drafting experience with CATIA-CADAM Drafting (CCD) and/or Siemens Capital preferred
  • C/C and assembly programming experience or coursework preferred
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and VPM preferred

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Textron Aviation Inc. must comply with U.S. export control laws. If a position requires access to information controlled under U.S. regulations applicant must be eligible to meet any requirements to access controlled information.
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
