Job summary

Dunaway is seeking a 2027 Planning Intern to gain hands-on experience shaping communities in Texas. You’ll work with veteran planners on mapping, zoning analysis, and data collection, helping projects move from concept to plan.

As part of a multi-discipline firm, you’ll contribute to real-world planning tasks, organize files, attend team meetings, and build technical skills in GIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Must be actively pursuing a degree in landscape-related field.
• Knowledge of landscape architecture and site design principles.
• Familiarity with planning software tools (AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, Adobe CC).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with planners on mapping, zoning analysis, and policy research.
• Collect and analyze data from surveys, field work, or GIS tools.
• Summarize findings to support planning decisions.
• Organize project files, maintain records, and help with scheduling.
• Attend team meetings and contribute ideas to ongoing projects.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:As a Planning Intern, you’ll work alongside experienced planners to gain hands-on experience shaping communities. You’ll contribute to real-world projects, assist with research, collect and analyze data, and see how planning principles come to life.

Once selected to join our team, you will:

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE:

• Basic knowledge of landscape architecture and site design principles
• Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, GIS, or Adobe Creative Suite

SKILLS:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Eagerness and willingness to learn and adapt to new skills and technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professionalism and strong work ethic

EDUCATION:

• Actively pursuing a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or related field
