Job summary

Textron Systems is offering a 10-week paid summer internship for an Autonomy Engineer (Air Systems) in Hunt Valley, MD. You will work with a design team under lead electrical engineers, performing research, simulations, CAD drawing generation, and testing support for Land Systems products.

The role requires a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field, CAD proficiency (AutoCad/SolidWorks), and strong communication skills. A US citizen with ability to obtain security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient CAD modeling using a major design software package (AutoCad, SolidWorks).
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong written/verbal communication.
  • Coursework includes analog/digital circuits, power systems, PCB design, embedded coding, debugging, and lab safety.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams supporting Land Systems products.
  • Work under supervision of lead electrical engineers on Autonomy/Air Systems projects.
  • Conduct research and trade studies; generate technical data packages and CAD drawings.
  • Perform performance calculations and simulations; assist in testing and vehicle production build.

In this role, you will be responsible for

Work with teams and products that directly support our service men and women who engage in combat operations around the world.

As an integral member of the design team, you'll work under the supervision of lead electrical engineers and focus on Land Systems products

Performing research and trade studies

Generating Technical Data Packages such as drawings using CAD

Conducting performance calculations and simulations

Hands‑on support of testing, troubleshooting and vehicle production build

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • A good working knowledge of CAD modeling using a major design software package (i.e., AutoCad , SolidWorks); computer skills to include proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and excellent written/verbal communication.
  • A minimum of two years of course work completed: Basic understanding of analog & digital circuits, common fabrication & assembly processes, AC/ DC power systems and power load calculations, computer architectures, electrical subassemblies and cable design, PCB design & embedded coding, debugging of electrical assemblies, test & engineering analysis reports, EO/IR systems, operation of multimeters & oscilloscopes, and engineering lab safety as required.
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week (This schedule is on a combination 5/8, 4/10, with every other Friday off!)
  • This position requires an individual to be a U.S citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Compensation

Textron’s compensation package includes competitive base pay and provides eligible employees with benefit programs. The pay range should be used as a general guide only. Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $28 - $32 per hour.
