Job summary

Rawlings Sporting Goods Company Inc is seeking a Co-Op Industrial Designer in O'Fallon, MO, January 2027 to August 2027. You will explore new product ideas for bats, protective gear, balls, and gloves, using 3D CAD to visualize concepts and support engineering and marketing teams.

The role requires pursuing an Industrial Design degree, experience with 3D design software (NX/SolidWorks) and Adobe Creative Cloud, and a strong interest in the sporting goods market.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Industrial Design degree with junior standing or higher.
• Experience with 3D design and modeling software (NX or SolidWorks).
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Strong affinity to sporting goods market and trends.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficient in sketching, rendering and digitizing tools.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Seek and develop new and innovative ideas for products with designs, sketches, and storyboards using 3D capabilities to visualize and implement ideas.
• Create and maintain design documentation of quality 3D CAD data packages for modeling and prototyping to interface with Design Engineers and Graphics department.
• Participate in ideation sessions that generate innovations through use of market research and trends.
• Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product to make it more appealing to consumers.
• Work with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
• Test designs in focus groups or surveys.
• Research consumer design trends and product limitations.
• Assist in manufacturing/warehouse/lab/office environments as needed.

General Overview

Seek and develop new and innovative ideas for products with designs, sketches, and storyboards using 3D capabilities to visualize and implement ideas.

• Brings new age technologies and concepts to life through visual representations. This includes ideas for bats, protective equipment, balls, gloves, etc.
• Develops and creates product concepts for a commercialization level.
• Applies new age technology concepts and consumer vision to help promote designs to other business and marketing associates.
• Create and maintain design documentation of quality 3D CAD data packages for modeling and prototyping to interface with Design Engineers and Graphics department.
• Participate in ideation sessions that generate innovations through use of market research and trends.
• Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product to make it more appealing to consumers.
• Research consumer design trends and product limitations.
• Work with engineering, marketing, production, and/or sales departments to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
• Test designs in focus groups or surveys.
• Perform research on appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Pursuing Industrial Design degree (must be currently enrolled in school, Junior standing or higher preferred).
• Experience with 3D design and modeling software - NX or Solidworks preferred.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Strong affinity to develop an understanding of the ever-changing sporting goods market.
• Strong team building and communication skills.
• Proficient in sketching, rendering and digitizing tools
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

Working Conditions
