Job summary

Rawlings Sporting Goods Company Inc is seeking a 2026 Engineering Co-Op for Jan 2027–Aug 2027 in O'Fallon, MO. The role splits time between Quality Assurance and Product Development at our Tech Center, reporting to the Director of Research and Engineering and Sr. Manager, Product Development.

The position is hourly, temporary, and seasonal, requiring enrollment in an engineering program and willingness to work across multiple testing environments. Housing is not provided.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Materials Science program.
  • Hands-on product and process testing knowledge is an advantage.
  • Ability to perform detailed measuring with precision under pressure.
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and process control concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Access, and data analysis software.
  • Strong organizational abilities and documentation practices.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Performs quality audits and new product development testing of sporting goods.
  • Reviews and tests returned goods with feedback to Product Manager/Engineer.
  • Learns and uses test equipment such as gages, micrometers, calipers, and testers.
  • Organizes and maintains testing log sheets and QA documents.
  • Maintains testing equipment and related maintenance logs.
  • Assists ATC in developing new testing methods and other projects.
  • Assists Product Engineers on new product development for bats, helmets, and protective gear.
  • Creates and maintains specification documents for new products.

FSLA Status: Hourly, Temporary, Seasonal
*Rawlings does not provide housing for Internships and Co-Op Programs.


General Overview

This is an Engineering Co-op position that will split time between Quality Assurance and Product Development, located at our O'Fallon, MO Tech Center, reporting to the Director of Research and Engineering and Sr. Manager, Product Development for Rawlings Sporting Goods.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Performs quality audits and new product development testing of sporting goods items, including detailed testing and measuring requirements.

  • Reviews and tests returned goods, including feedback to the Product Manager and Product Engineer.

  • Learns and understands test equipment such as height gage, micrometers, calipers, weighing scales, ultrasonic thickness gage, helmet drop testing, durability test machines, NOCSAE test equipment, compression/tensile testers, spectrophotometers, etc.

  • Organizes and maintains testing log sheets and QA documents.

  • Maintains maintenance of the testing equipment.

  • Assists Engineering team at Asian Technical Center (ATC) in development of new testing methods and assists with any other new projects or additional tasks.

  • Assists Product Engineers on new product development for bats, helmets, protective equipment, bags, gloves and/or balls.

  • Creates and maintains specification documents for new products.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Materials Science (must be currently enrolled in school, Junior standing or higher preferred).

  • Knowledge of hands-on product and process testing is an advantage.

  • Ability to complete and handle detailed measuring; ability to maintain the quality of work under stressful situation.

  • Knowledge of common manufacturing techniques.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and process control analysis.

  • Requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, SQC Pack, Minitab, CHARTrunner, LABVIEW, or any other data acquisition and analysis software.

  • Requires strong organizational skills.

  • Good verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability to work in a demanding, dynamic environment where precision, quality and confidentiality is top priority.


Working Conditions

Manufacturing and warehouse working environment, lab environment, and/or office environment. Potential work hazards exist due to work environment.
