Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ seeks an Epidemiology Operations intern as part of the Future Talent Program. The internship runs up to 12 weeks and includes one or more projects across GCTO.

You will engage with the Epidemiology Operations team, support project initiatives, and help develop tools, processes, and communications to improve the conduct of epidemiology trials. Capstone presentation at internship end.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time BS/BA degree program in a business, project management, continuous improvement, computer technology, or science related discipline.
  • Available to work full-time for 10-12 weeks starting in May or June 2027.
  • Must have completed at least two years of collegiate study by June 2027.
  • MPH degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management support for strategic initiatives within Epidemiology Operations.
  • Support existing epidemiology trials and organizational efforts to standardize global processes.
  • Develop tools to enhance conduct of epidemiology trials and generate performance metrics.
  • Assist in development and updating of the Epi Ops webpage and communications.
  • Deliver a capstone presentation illustrating internship objectives and activities.

The Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO) team is seeking applicants for the Epidemiology Operations intern position.

The intern will engage with the Epidemiology Operations organization and their associated project teams throughout participation in and/or leadership of initiatives that drive the efficient and ethical conduct of epidemiology trials across GCTO.

Activities may include (but are not limited to):
  • Provide project management support for strategic initiatives
  • support for existing Epidemiology trials
  • Assist organizational efforts to simplify and standardize global processes
  • Develop new tools to enhance conduct of our epidemiology trials
  • enhance existing tools
  • Generate process maps and/or performance metrics
  • Develop effective communications
  • assist in development/updating of Epi Ops webpage
  • Receive exposure to the field of clinical research and drug development with direct activities supporting global clinical trial operations
  • Deliver a capstone presentation illustrating internship objectives and activities

Required Education: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a full-time BS/BA (or higher) degree program in a business or project management, continuous improvement, computer technology, or science related discipline. Candidates must be available to work full-time for 10-12 weeks beginning in May or June of 2027. Candidates must have completed at least (2) years of collegiate study by June of 2027.

Preferred Education: Candidates considering pursuing a MPH are preferred.

Salary range: The salary range for this role is $39,908 - $111,111 FTP2027 RL2027
